Creating Collective Memory

Arctic/Antarctic (Southern) Ocean

For centuries now, the great mystery of the North and South poles has attracted many expeditions throughout the past five centuries. The first expedition started in the late 1400s and really picked up in the 1500s. The first verified expedition to the North Pole only happened centuries later in 1926 when some 16 explorers above an airship named “Norge” flew over the North Pole. Unfortunately, over the last centuries, the ice caps have been melting at alarming rates due to global warming and gas emissions at unprecedentedly high levels. The art depicted in this exhibition brings attention to those issues through satire, enhanced photographs, and digital art.
